Curriculum Pathways
Our Curriculum Pathways programme begins in Year 11 during the Summer Term, with an introductory letter sent via Applica outlining subject-specific pathways. Students are encouraged to engage with resources from a curated introductory A Level reading, watching, and listening list. The programme continues into Sixth Form with clear aims for each term: in the Autumn Term, students deepen their knowledge and cultivate academic curiosity for their subjects; in the Spring Term, they develop oracy skills to confidently communicate their subject passions; and by the Summer Term, they are well-prepared for UCAS, apprenticeship, or employment applications and interviews. To support students in pursuing their academic interests and aspirations through the Curriculum Pathways programme, dedicated time is allocated each week for focused engagement. This includes structured sessions where students can explore their chosen subject areas in depth, as well as supervised study periods to work on Curriculum Pathway tasks and projects. These sessions are designed to foster independent learning, critical thinking, and sustained academic development.
Leadership is a key component of the Curriculum Pathways experience. Year 12 students take an active role in promoting the programme by presenting Curriculum Pathway project stalls at the Year 10 Taster Day in June, and by co-presenting with staff during the Year 11 Induction Day and Taster Day. These opportunities not only develop students’ confidence and communication skills but also foster a strong sense of ownership and pride in their academic journey.
